Happy 16th Birthday Kohly!

The last few weeks have been a blur for me. I lost my mom on Tuesday, February 10. I am still having trouble accepting her death. I have my moments and then I try to move on. When I got back from Arkansas, I tried to get back to work. The kids have been good medicine for me.
To occupy my mind, I managed to throw a party together for Kohly's 16th birthday party. We had been working on it before mom passed away. Thank the Lord for Mike, Rachel (one of Kohly's friends) and B.B., they helped me to pull it together. We managed to surprise him! We took Kohly out to eat at Springhouse Rest. We were a little late getting there because one of the sheep got out and Mike and Kohly had to put him back in. Of course it took awhile for us to get dinner. Instead of having Kohly at the studio 20 min. after everyone got there, we were 40 min. late. Needless to say, more than fashionably late. All in all, it turned out great. He wanted blue and silver as his colors and we had it at the studio. He had a cake with a baseball pitcher on it. I thought the kids would dance now that they are older. Mike put up a disco ball and blue lights. Noooooo! They stood around and talked and hit each other with balloons and then preceeded to go to the other studio room (that I had not cleaned ) and tumble or at least birthday boy did so he could show off! Then we had cake and they started warming up and I thought for sure they would dance. They started popping balloons by hugging each other. I hate popping balloons, but they were having fun! When the parents started showing up, most of them started cleaning up the mess they had made. Courtney and Rachel got silly and began to wipe cake icing on each others face. Somehow, Kohly got caught in the middle and he had icing in his hair, ear and face. He was furious! He was such a gentleman. He didn't retaliate. He just cleaned it off and grumbled. While I was finishing up, B.B. told Rachel to go pull the car around, well, she pulled it around and they kept driving around and round the studio. Each time we would go out the door to see where they were, they would stop and switch places and drive around again. Finally, we got home around 12:30 a.m.
Kessa had her ski olympics last night. It was their last night for ski club. She did really well. She placed 3rd in her group! This was her first year to ski and she was apprehensive, but she ended up loving it and now she wants to teach Mike and me. I guess she forgets I lived in N.Y. and skiied many times. I am excited for her to "teach" me and I look forward to going.
Well, until we meet again....
